Sunday, May 28, 2017, Rev. Russ Savage. The Right of Conscience and the Use of the Democratic Process. The right of conscience allows us to honor that which arises from within our own minds and spirits. The use of the democratic process calls us to honor that which has arisen from the minds and spirits of others as we work to govern ourselves. Let us consider how these two matters intersect.
Sunday, June 4, 2017, Mr. Ron Cox, "New Words for Old." This worship service looks back over our 5 hymnals and why they changed with changes in the denomination and people in the congregations. As time passed and changes occurred, hymns came and went and words were changed in hymns. This service examines why these things happened in our denomination and thus in our hymnals. Our hymnals reflect our selves as you will hear on June 4. Ron Cox is delivering a modified version of a 2009 sermon provided by Rev. Russ Savage.
Ron is Chair of the Worship Committee (until the end of June). He has been a U or UU for 58 years and has been a member of 5 UU churches. He and Dottie moved to Winchester in 2004 from New Jersey. They came to Winchester because of the existence of UUCSV and to be near their daughter and family.
