“Expect the Unexpected”
Rev. Leah DeLong

Easter is the most important Christian holy day of the year. It celebrates the resurrection of Jesus and focuses on themes of forgiveness of sin and eternal life for his followers. When we take a close look at the events and teachings that occurred in the days prior to his death, we find that Jesus wanted his followers to know so much more. Today we will take a look at the backstory of the first Easter Sunday to discover lessons about life.
Rev. Leah DeLong is an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church. Now retired, she has experience serving as pastor for over 20 years in several small churches. She holds a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Seton Hill University. Prior to becoming a pastor, she worked as a naturalist in Shenandoah National Park and as a long-term substitute teacher and library assistant in Fauquier County. Interests include organic gardening, preserving harvests, being a “citizen scientist”, such as monitoring bluebird trails, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her two grandchildren. She shares a home and gardens in Middletown with Dana Crone, a 2-year-old Husky mix named Balto, and a brand new puppy named Jasper.
